Southern Hills 2009
 Sunday School Confernece
 August 10th – 7:00 P.M at FBC Mt. Orab
This year’s Conference Leader
Darryl Wilson Director, Adult Sunday School Department Beginning January 2004, Darryl Wilson became director of the Adult Sunday School Department at the Kentucky Baptist Convention. From September 1997 through December 2003, Darryl Wilson served as director of the Sunday School Department for the convention. He grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, and is a graduate of Belmont University (B.A) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div./C.E and Ed.D.). Darryl has served four churches in Kentucky and one in South Carolina. He came to the convention from Eastwood Baptist Church in Bowling Green, where he served almost six years as Minister of Education and Administration. Darryl's desire is to assist churches and associations in effective general and adult Sunday School and discipling strategies. He believes that Sunday School is the foundational strategy in the local church for leading people to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and for building Great Commission Christians through Bible study groups that engage people in evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and worship

Multi-housing Congregations
Update from Mike Wright ~ Urbancrest Local Missions Strategist

Praise the Lord for the celebration last week at our block parties in the face of challenges and adversity which our teams faced at La Luz and Pleasant Park.

At La Luz, we had the privilege of baptizing 11 believers!  Many of these are our new believers from our Backyard Kids' Clubs this summer.  One was a new believer from our Concord block party several ago, too!  A  daughter and her mother were baptized as well as  3 siblings from another family.  We also had 4 responses to the gospel, 2 as new
believers and 2 as re-commitments!

Thanks to all our team members for your perseverance and commitment last Wednesday. God prevailed!  We had approximately 80 of our UBC folks there last night as well as 11 from our West Virginia team.  Estimated count of folks attending both block parties was 140!

Continue to pray for the growth of our new believers & our Multi-housing congregations. Also, continue to pray for youth and parents to come to Christ as we continue our block parties and backyard kids' clubs this week.

A team from Kingsport, TN (of more than 70) arrived on Saturday to continue our Backyard Kids’ Clubs at La Luz, Hunter's Run, Williamsburg, Concord Square, E. Ridge, and Ridgeway this week. They will join us at our block party on July 1st, located in a field just north of Hunter's Run Apartments. Pray that God continues to bring new believers into the Kingdom for His glory!

NEED A DRAMA MINISTRY TEAM FOR A WEEKEND IN JULY?

The 2009 Ohio Collegiate Ministries Drama Team is looking to serve our SBC churches this July!  Our “very newly formed” ministry team has free ministry time between Youth Camps at Seneca Lake Baptist Assembly, and they don’t want to waste it!!

Available dates are the evening of Friday, July 10th - Sunday July 12th, as well as, the evening of Friday, July 17th - Sunday, July 19th.

This 5 person collegiate team can be used just like any old normal run-of-the-mill missions team, and they’ll lift hands and feet to help out with whatever project the lucky host church throws their way.  The team’s primary focus and training is in drama, and not the daytime TV kind either.

Their dramas are funny, serious, with the perfect blend of head and heart focus, all centered on relating the Bible to real life.  The team and their ministry tools can be incorporated into youth events, special worship times, and even Sunday morning services. But the team is available to assist in whatever capacity is needed, rain or shine.

The purpose of the team is not simply to make you giggle (although that might happen spontaneously and unexpectedly), but rather to express biblical truths through drama.  At the same time, as a collegiate ministry team we also look to share with youth, college students, and churches about what Crosswalk Collegiate Ministry is up to in Ohio.

The team knows the Lord provides, and we are hoping that the Lord will use your church family to provide a few basic needs.  The team would be extremely grateful to you (the host church) for providing housing for 2 females and 3 males on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. The team does know that fasting is biblical, but would request that meals are provided during their stay. Nothing fancy is required, just sustenance.

The team is ready for action Friday afternoon up until Sunday evening, as they will be traveling from Seneca Lake Baptist Assembly on Friday and returning to the camp on Monday morning. The team does not need breakfast on Monday morning, and the time of availability for the team on Friday depends on the distance from Seneca Lake Baptist Assembly to the host church.

The team would also like to humbly request a love-offering be collected to help support the traveling expenses to and from camp as well as to help fund and support future Crosswalk Collegiate Ministry drama teams through the SCBO. The actual cost of supporting this year’s team is minimal as they are only serving 3 weeks. However, funding for beginning equipment purchases and expenses to be used for supporting a future 10-week summer team would be greatly appreciated. We thank you for your consideration.
Have a great day!

    The Vision
What would it take to see the Great Commission fulfilled in our lifetime? That was the question a number of leaders in the Southern Baptist Convention considered beginning in  2006.  After much prayer, study, and the eventual involvement of hundreds of Southern Baptists across the nation, they developed the GPS vision:  More
